Without the Helmet, I Don’t Know If I Would Still be Alive

I bought one of the Troxel Legacy helmets the summer of 2015 and I am in my third year of law school at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, BC Canada. I was wearing the helmet in October when training a young horse. She bucked from a halt, I came off and when she kicked out she connected with the left side of my head. I sustained a concussion, injury to my c-2, broken cheek, broken chin and shattered left jaw.

I spent close to 2 weeks in the ICU at the Vancouver General Hospital and had multiple surgeries in order to wire my jaw shut and put titanium plates into the left side of my face. I flew back to my home town of Calgary Alberta to recover. Luckily, I was able to finish papers for a couple of courses in December and deferred exams for the others until January, meaning that I will be able to finish law school as planned.

I write you to thank you for your product. Without the helmet I don’t know if I would still be alive, or if I was how much damage I would have sustained to my brain and rest of my spine. It has given me the ability to recover from the accident, return to school and yes I am back to riding. Thankfully my mom owns a very steady quarter horse that started life working on a farm.

I was always an advocate of wearing a helmet while riding but now even more so.
