I took a freak fall from my pony while jumping this past summer. I'm still not sure what happened but the next thing I knew I was doing my best to stay on.
Long story short, I spooked my pony during my scrambling to regain composure and he crow hopped which caused me to do a rotational fall into the fence post of the arena. I suffered a broken neck (shattered c-7), broke 2 ribs and collapsed my lung. Upon inspection of helmet damage I found two holes in my helmet along with a large crack. My doctors told me that if not for my helmet I would have probably died.
