I was riding my gelding one afternoon in the arena and wanted to do some grid work with some jumps that were already set up. What I didn't know was that the jumps had been raised from the height I had jumped the other day.
My horse got overwhelmed and ducked out in between the jumps that were one stride apart. I lost my balance, and because my horse was cantering in a turn I ended up falling under his feet. He stepped on my head and the riders inside the barn heard my helmet crack and came running.
Thanks to my helmet, I walked away with only a swollen eye that had split open that needed stitches and a pretty nice shiner that last about a week. It's still amazing to me that I had a 1200lb animal step on my head and I didn't even have a concussion! Thanks Troxel for saving my life!
