How to Choose and Fit the Right Helmet

How to Choose and Fit the Right Helmet

Troxel

Equestrian helmets are more popular than ever. Every year more riders are on the hunt for this new piece of equipment. With so many helmets to choose from, it can get a bit overwhelming!

The team at Troxel has some great tips to help you find the right helmet:

#1 Certification: helmets are subject to drops, sharp and blunt blows, and tested for harness strength. It’s important to choose an ASTM/SEI certified equestrian helmet. All Troxel helmets are ASTM/SEI certified.

#2 Budget: all helmets that are ASTM/SEI certified will offer comparable protection.  Appearance is the main factor for cost differences between various models, sometimes comfort features like fit systems can play a role.

#3 Fashion: Troxel has a comprehensive line of western helmets from the more traditional leather covered Cheyenne, or the athletic line of barrel racing inspired Fallon Taylor and FTX styles, to the subtle Rebel and Spirit options.  Whichever Troxel helmet you choose, rest assured you are getting a high quality helmet designed after decades of real life feedback from riders like you.

#4 Fit: It’s very important to pick a helmet that is very comfortable on your head because if it’s not, you are less likely to wear it! Check out Troxel’s helmet fitting guide and video to help you make the best decision.
