My daughter was in an accident in December. She was coming into the first barrel and she checked her horse, but he was coming in too fast. He bounced and they lost their rhythm, but when they did she went flying. Her humerus hit the swells and was broken immediately, her chin hit the saddle horn, she bit through her lip and she landed under her horse. As he ran, she rolled under him, but we were so lucky and thankful that her helmet kept her little head safe and there was not even a concussion.
My daughter is only 10, but has been riding since she was 4, and has never put up a fight to wear her Troxel. She has since healed and is riding again, and several of her rodeo friends have joined us in wearing helmets now too.
