Jesse Westfall and Julie Goodnight to Keynote at the 2019 Certified Horsemanship Association International Conference

April 2019 – The Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) is pleased to announce that reining trainer Jesse Westfall and CHA Certified Master Instructor Julie Goodnight will be keynote speakers for the 2019 CHA International Conference.

The conference is scheduled for October 24-27 at Houghton College in Houghton, New York. You won’t want to miss these keynote addresses from such dynamic and experienced clinicians.

Jesse Westfall’s keynote will be during Saturday’s lunch on “Training Through Problems with Lesson Horses.” He will also be speaking on Saturday on “How to Get More Suppleness and Bend Out of Your Lesson Horses.” With more than 25 years of experience in the horse industry, Westfall is a National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) trainer, coach, and a judge, who has judged at shows around the world. He is also an internationally known horse trainer and breeder. Westfall is the Trainer in Residence at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky. He has experience in reining, working cow horse, colt starting, ranch riding, western pleasure, and trail riding. As a competitor, he has been named reserve champion at the All American Quarter Horse Congress twice and won numerous bronze trophies and year-end awards. Westfall has trained reining horses and taught riders who have won at the local, regional, and national levels. He has also been a clinician throughout the United States, Canada, Germany, and Australia. He and his wife, Stacy, run Westfall Horsemanship and live in Ohio with their three sons.

Julie Goodnight’s keynote will be during the Friday lunch on “Achieving Collection: Promoting Lightness in the Rider and Self Carriage in the Horse.” She will also be speaking on Friday on “How to Bring the Best Out of Your Horses and Riders.” Goodnight is the CHA International Spokesperson, and before that she served as CHA Program Director. She is internationally known for her former RFD-TV show called "Horse Master with Julie Goodnight" which ran for 11 years for more than 250 episodes. As a CHA Master Instructor and Clinician, she has used the knowledge she has gained through CHA and through her lifelong experiences with horses to help riders develop better leadership, communication, and horsemanship skills when working with their horses. In 2008, she was named Equine Affaire's Exceptional Equestrian Educator, and in 2013, she won CHA’s Partner in Safety Award.

Goodnight's experience includes training in dressage, jumping, racing, reining, colt-starting, cutting, and wilderness riding. Goodnight owns a training facility in Colorado called Goodnight Training Stables, Inc., and she offers online training programs. Goodnight looks forward to the CHA International Conference every year because of the sharing of ideas, innovative ways to learn how to teach riding, and the ample opportunities for continuing education. “Although you don’t have to be a horse professional to attend, many of the participants are, making the conference a great way to network, learn new approaches to teaching riding and increase your skill level,” said Goodnight. “It’s one of the few conferences I know of where you can actually hop on a well-trained school horse and take a lesson from an established horsemanship instructor!

CHA is all about hands-on-horses, and our annual conference is unique, because it’s full of opportunities to ride and work directly with horses! CHA is an open and inclusive organization that welcomes anyone through our doors who has an interest in providing safe, fun, and effective horsemanship programs to the public.”

Attendees of the CHA International Conference will learn from some of the top experts in the equine industry, including CHA Master Level Instructors, veterinarians, farriers, behaviorists, horse trainers, and more. In addition, there are roundtable discussions, a silent auction, vendors, the CHA annual meeting, and the CHA Awards Banquet.
