I just wanted to say "THANKS" for your product!!! My son is still with me tonight because of your helmet!
My son is 10 years old and has been wearing your helmets while competing in Barrel Racing and Junior Rodeos since he started riding, at age two. I suffered a triple skull fracture in a barrel racing accident when he was 6 weeks old, and have been a helmet advocate ever since. I wish that I had been using one at that time.
My son was working his young prospect on the barrels on Sunday, September 21, 2003, when rounding the third barrel his horse went down on the bad ground. He struggled to free himself from the stirrup but was unable to and was drug about 100 feet before the horse kicked him free. You cannot imagine the horror of what I saw when I got to him. I believed him to be dying, as I looked into his blank stare and saw blood running from the back of his helmet. He was unresponsive and unconscious for 3 - 5 minutes before he closed his eyes for the first time and showed any response at all. He was rushed by ambulance to Pueblo about 35 miles away for emergency care. He suffered a small fracture to the temporal lobe of the skull, a scalp laceration, and a bruised lung from the horse stepping on his back. I don't care to even think about what the outcome may have been had he not been wearing the helmet. God, assisted by that helmet, did actually save his life!!! His helmet displays a distinct hoof mark to the back of the helmet along with major amounts of damage interior and exterior.
He has been a real example setter for many people due to the fact that he wears it religiously while riding or competing, and has achieved recognition by so many for his abilities as a top notch rider for his age. I will not be sending this helmet back to you for replacement as we intend to show it to others as often as possible to help encourage others to use them. I teach barrel racing to many competitors each year and do certainly intend to use that helmet as a teaching aide in the future.
