Technology- Testimonials- Safety Resources

This has been circulated to all endurance members of South Africa and has been placed on the South African endurance website at http://erasa.co.za

Four weeks ago on a Monday afternoon I went for a ride on my endurance horse. He took fright as I picked a stick while sitting on his back and bolted. He ran at full speed, and 300+ meters further down the road he rant into a herd of cows which were unexpectedly around the corner. The end result was that I was launched like a rocket over the cows and came to earth head first on a very hard road. I fell extremely hard and my head and shoulder took the main thrust.

After an MRI at great expense I was diagnosed to have two compressed fractures of the vertebrae.

If you study the pictures on my Troxel helmet you might notice that if I had not been wearing my helmet I might have been killed. The stone marks in the helmet are frightening to say the least. Troxel helmets are made to break at impact, which absorbs the shock, which gives maximum possible protection. I was amazed that I had no pain in my head at all, (apart for some minor scratches of the face) and can only ascribe this to the fact that I was wearing a quality helmet.

The point of this e-mail is to illustrate that helmets should not only be worn at endurance rides but at all times. I have ridden this horse at four endurance rides this season and haven't had a moment's problem. I think I can say with absolute confidence that my helmet saved my life and it is my duty to circulate this to all our members...
