Helmet Necessity

I have been using a helmet ever since I lived in a gated community in California and one of the trail riders horse spooked and she fell off, horse drug her and did a tap dance on her body but her head was so damaged from hitting the street she died. The equestrian store offered everyone a discount if we would buy and wear a helmet. I just bought a new one a few months ago and was riding and my horse spooked when the cows suddenly came out of the barn and she fell on the concrete and I went down with her and when my Troxel hit the cement I thought boy I was smart to wear my NEW Troxel helmet. Now I am worried it has been compromised and I will have to buy a new one already. Thanks for the great product, I know I would have been HURT without it. Sherry

    Dear Sherry Bueckman,

Thank you for sharing your testimonial. The entire Troxel Staff appreciates hearing from customers like you because it is through this connection and sharing of experiences that we can learn as much as we can about riding and helmet safety from the customer’s perspective.

I see from your post that you plan to replace your helmet, knowing that your helmet is now compromised. Many helmet wearers are not aware that they must replace their helmet once it is involved in an accident, however seemingly minor, because even hairline fractures in the EPS can compromise a helmet’s ability to absorb impact a second time.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the death of a trail rider in your community. We can, however, be grateful that you made the choice to wear a helmet and that this choice was influenced by this tragic event. The Troxel Staff and I would like to donate to you a replacement helmet in honor of and in appreciation of the trail rider who influenced your helmet use, providing protection during your recent fall. Please contact our customer service department who is waiting to hear from you. When you receive your new helmet please be sure to fill out the product registration form on the Troxel website

    Thank you again Ms. Bueckman.

    Sincerely,

    Shay Timms
    CEO
