Check all disciplines that apply to find the right helmet for your needs. If you are looking for more than one helmet (a show helmet and a schooling helmet), use the search multiple times—each time focusing on a specific discipline.
Barrel racing has been a major part of Lacie Bond McFay’s life since she was five years old.
Not yet in her teens, her list of accomplishments is impressive. Lacie Bond beat 750 other competitors to become the 2010 National Barrel Horse Association Youth 2D World Champion and she has earned a spot as a 2010 team member of Team USA, an honor she shares with the top 25 youth riders in the United States. Since 2008, Lacie Bond has ranked among the top riders at the All American, Southern States Triple Crown, Fiddlers Turkey Run, and the Shamrock Showdown. A multi-state champion, her list of accomplishments includes over 20 wins.
“We love the barrel racing environment and as a family, we have always been active in the horse world,” said Lacie Bond’s father, Greg McFay. Lacie Bond's mother, Terri, has been giving riding lessons for close to 15 years and requires all of her students to wear a helmet.
The McFay’s support of helmets saved their daughter’s life. When Lacie Bond was 6, she fell off her barrel pony while competing and was kicked in the head. Lacie Bond recalls the incident: "I remember when I came off Silver Bell and was kicked. If it had not been for the helmet, I would have been in trouble.”
Lacie Bond is part of the growing number of barrel racing competitors who have adopted helmets. “I am used to wearing a helmet and I feel safe with it. I know that if something happens--I have my helmet on and that part of me is safe. "
